DPP says successful prosecutions in human trafficking cases often determined by level of support provided to victims who may submit to stockholm syndrome

Successful prosecutions in human trafficking cases are often determined by the level of support provided to victims who may submit to stockholm syndrome.

Stockholm syndrome is a psychological response, where persons develop positive feelings towards their captors or abusers.

Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP), Paula Llewellyn, highlighted the challenge with the syndrome, during a Caribbean Trafficking in Persons Forum in Montego Bay, St. James yesterday.

DDP Llewellyn explained that victim support also includes meeting with them to gain their trust.
