Doctors and Nurses at CRH Accident and Emergency department protesting poor working conditions
Doctors and nurses attached to the Accident and Emergency Department of the Cornwall Regional Hospital in St. James, have stopped working and are protesting conditions at the department.
The placard bearing workers are calling for improvements in the working conditions, indicating they cannot work in an unsafe environment.
They have listed a number of concerns.
Meanwhile, President of the Jamaica Medical Doctors Association, JMDA Dr. Renee Badroe says the doctors are in solidarity with the nurses, describing the working conditions as untenable.
There are about 25 doctors at the Accident and Emergency Department.
In highlighting the extent of the problem Dr. Badroe says on Wednesday there were over 150 patients in the A and E Department, noting that this raised safety concerns.
She says doctors and nurses have been pulled from other departments to cover for the protesting health workers from A and E.
