Ding Dong calls on youths to embrace their culture

Dancehall artiste Ding Dong recently expressed his disappointment and frustration with the younger generation in Jamaica, accusing them of neglecting their cultural heritage.

The “Lebeh Lebeh” singer’s comments came during a graveside ceremony for his friend and dancer, Shamarie, late member of the Ravers Clavers dance crew.

Ding Dong’s sentiments were sparked when the young people in attendance at the funeral refused to sing African spiritual songs in honour of Shamarie. Instead, they seemed more interested in their social media presence. The dancehall artiste lamented that the youths are prioritizing the wrong things, neglecting their rich cultural roots in the process.

Ding Dong emphasized the importance of emulating the elders and respecting the traditions that have been passed down. He encouraged the younger generation to take pride in their culture and to learn from those who have come before them.

The artiste also took the opportunity to express his love and admiration for his late friend Shamarie noting that he loves and respects Shamarie.
