Di Genius’ ‘Hill & Gully Riddim’ sparks cultural push

Multi-Grammy Award-winning producer Stephen “Di Genius” McGregor’s Hill & Gully Riddim is gaining cultural traction, catching the attention of the Jamaica Cultural Development Commission (JCDC).

The organization is now calling on Jamaicans to learn traditional dances like the Gerreh and Dinki Mini as part of the summer festival season.

In a post shared on Instagram, the JCDC highlighted that Di Genius is setting the tone for a “festival summer,” using the riddim to reinforce its message. The post featured dancers showcasing the traditional moves, while encouraging the public to practice ahead of Grand Gala celebrations.

Di Genius has since responded with excitement, posting, “Let’s go!!”

In related news, the producer also issued a warning, noting that any recording on the Hill & Gully Riddim not shared on his official page should not be considered authentic.
