Dexta Daps, Masicka among top nominees for Caribbean Music Awards
Dancehall singjay, Dexta Daps stands out among the Jamaican entertainers nominated for the 2024 Caribbean Music Awards.
The Breaking News singjay leads with eight nominations in over five categories which include People’s Choice Award, Dancehall Performer of the Year, Dancehall Artiste of the Year and Song of the Year for his featured appearance on the track, Slow Motion with Cham and Bounty Killer.
Meanwhile nominees in the Reggae Album of the Year category include Buju Banton for his project Born for Greatness, Marcia Griffiths’ Golden, Sizzla’s The I-Grade, Stephen Marley for his album Old Soul and his brother Julian for Colors of Royal which features Antaeus.
Dancehall hitmaker, Masicka who received five nominations which include Song of the Year for Tyrant and Album of the Year for his project, Generation of Kings is listed among Popcaan, Valiant, Byron Messia, Bounty Killer & The Cham, Aidonia and Beenieman as the nominees in the Album of the Year -Dancehall category.
Other Jamaican artistes who are vying for an award include, Tarrus Riley, Teejay, 450, Shenseea, Beres Hammond, Romain Virgo, Protoje and Nigy Boy who received a bod for Best New Artiste.
First held in 2023, the Caribbean Music Awards is a platform seeking to recognize, honour and celebrate Caribbean talent who have made significant contributions to the enhancement of the music and development of the rich and diverse Caribbean culture.
With over 150 nominees in over 40 categories the Awards will take place on Thursday, August 29, at Kings Theatre in Brooklyn New York.
