Devin Di Dakta criticizes move to sign AI artists

Dancehall artist Devin Di Dakta is raising concerns about the rise of artificial intelligence in music. His comments come after producer Notnice signed a virtual artist named S’Riyah.

Devin argues that the decision to sign AI talent is motivated by profit and control, as producers do not need to split revenue or compromise on creative direction. With AI, he says, labels can decide exactly what an artist sings, how they look, and how they are portrayed.

Music News reached out to Notnice for a response but has not yet received a comment.

S’Riyah, however, has already caught the attention of fans. While some commend Notnice for being forward-thinking, others criticize him for joining the AI trend.

This debate isn’t limited to Jamaica. Internationally, super producer Timbaland introduced his own AI artist Xania Monet, who signed a multi-million dollar record deal with Hallwood Media. She has since charted and racked up over 674,000 monthly listeners on Spotify.
