Demarai Gray named to best Eleven of Concacaf Gold Cup group stage
Reggae boy Demarai Gray is the lone Jamaican named to the best Eleven of the group stage at the ongoing Concacaf Gold Cup in the United States.
It comes after he played a pivotal role in Jamaica securing a spot in the quarterfinals, having recorded 2 wins and a draw to finish second on goal difference in group ‘A’ behind defending Champions United States.
Gray, who made his Jamaican debut against the USA on June 24, provided the assist for Damion Lowe in the one-all draw at Soldier field in Chicago before scoring twice on his 27th birthday in the 4-1 win over Trinidad and Tobago on June 28.
The Everton winger also played 82 minutes in the 5-nil win over St. Kitts and Nevis before he was replaced by former Kingston College striker Dujuan Richards.
He returns to action on Sunday when the reggae boyz face Central American opponents Guatemala in the quarterfinals at TQL Stadium in Cincinnati.
Also included on the Concacaf Gold Cup group stage best ElevenĀ are 3 Americans Jesus Ferreira, James Sands and Djordje Mihailovic……..Mexicans Luis Romo and Luis Chavez along with goalkeeper Nicholas Hagen and midfielder Carlos Mejia of Guatemala.
It is completed by Martinique defender Patrick burner and Joel Campbell and Edgar Barcenas of Costa Rica.
