Delroy Williams defends his appointment as Deputy General Secretary of the JLP, says his hard work was the reason he was selected for the post
Newly elected Deputy General Secretary of the Jamaica Labour Party (JLP), Delroy Williams, has credited his hard work within the JLP as the main reason he was elected to the post.
Mr. Williams was among a raft of new appointments announced after the JLP’s central executive meeting, held at the party’s headquarters in Kingston, on Sunday.
Some people have questioned Mr. William’s appointment to the role of Deputy General Secretary, suggesting that he was given the role as a consolation after he lost the position of mayor of Kingston.
But speaking with reporters recently, Mr. Williams, who is now serving as Deputy Mayor, said the decision was based on his history of performance.
Mr. Williams noted that he is elated to be serving in the post and is prepared to take on the hard work that will be necessary with a general election due in a little over a year.
