Dejanea Oakley among Jamaican winners on day two of NCCA Track and Field Championship in Eugene, Oregon

Jamaican quarter-miler Dejanea Oakley turned in a sensational performance on Thursday, to highlight Jamaican performances on the second day of the NCCA Track and Field Championship at Hayward Field in Eugene, Oregon. 

Oakley, the former Clarendon College standout now representing the University of Georgia, sizzled to a lifetime best 50.18 seconds to win semi-final three in the Women’s 400 metres and punched her ticket to Saturday’s final. 

Meanwhile, Habiba Harris who attends of the University of Florida, was also a Jamaican winner on the night, running a time of 12.84 seconds to take semifinal 3 in the women’s 100 meter hurdles.

She will be joined in the final by Oneka Wilson of Clemson who secured a non-automatic qualifying spot in 12.93 seconds. 

In the meantime, Shaquena foote of San Diego State, was eliminated after stopping the clock at 51.40 seconds to finish 11th overall, while Joanne Reid of Arkansas also failed to advance, finishing 24th overall with a time of 53.11 seconds.

In the field Aaliyah Foster placed seventh in the Women’s Long Jump with a wind-aided 6.47 metres.
