Date announced for second staging of Dancehall Week

The organizers of Dancehall Week have announced February 23- March 2, as the observation of the 2025 staging.

Now in its second year, organizers have shared that they will be launching a lucrative tourist product through their ‘Dancehall Village’ at Ranny Williams Entertainment Centre in Kingston, which will be available for tours, seminars, workshops, and events from Sunday, February 23, 2025 – Sunday, March 2, 2025.  

The village will host a major deluxe entertainment lounge, a Cannabis Village showcasing cannabis companies and advocates, areas hosting a series of free workshops on various dancehall topics, a dance studio offering classes for locals and tourists, a marketplace for dancehall books, merchandise,crafts, and clothing, and a museum showcasing critical pieces of dancehall history and art.   

Meanwhile, Dancehall Week has launched the ‘Rep Yuh Parish Competition’ that began October 1, 2024, a dynamic contest designed to discover and showcase the best dancehall talent from across Jamaica. These categories include individual dancers, dance groups and selectors and their DJs. Participants stand to win over $1,500,000 in cash and prizes. The official events for the week have not yet been announced.

Endorsed by the Ministry of Culture, Gender, Entertainment and Sport, the Jamaica Cultural Development Commission and the Ministry of Tourism, the inaugural Dancehall Week took place Jamaica from February 13-19, 2024, during Black History Month and Reggae Month.
