Dancehall pioneer Lord Sassa Frass among honorees for 3rd Ricky Gordon Youth festival in Maverly.

Legendary dancehall pioneer Michael ‘Sassa Frass’ Johnson will be one of the honorees at the third annual Ricky Gordon Youth Football Festival that will take place this Saturday July 25 and Sunday July 26 at the Maverly football field in St Andrew.

Lord Sassa Frass was a iconic dominant force on the dancehall scenes in Jamaica in the early to mid 1980’s, carving out a name for himself on the legendary sound system Black Scorpio.

Meantime, Under 13 and under 15 teams football teams from Duhaney Park, Cooreville Gardens, Maverly, Hughenden and Pembrook Hall will participate in the tournament while there will be a masters league clash between Maverly invitational and Christian Ambassadors.

Among the honorees this year are: legendary dancehall pioneer Lord Sassa Frass, Leebert Haliman, Olympian John Mair, Reverend Raymond Coke and teacher of the year Nadine Lawrence.

The successful students out of the Pep examinations from Maverly will also be honored.

The event will begin at 10am on Saturday and 12 noon on Sunday at the Maverly football field.
