Dancehall Mourns: Danny English passes away at 54
Producer Snow Cone and Dancehall deejays Vybz Kartel, Cham, Tanto Metro, Newkidz, and Mr. G are among those paying tribute to Danny English, who passed away Thursday evening at the Kingston Public Hospital after battling diabetes.
On Instagram, Producer Snow Cone wrote, “Jah knows my friend Danny. This hurt my heart. RIP and condolences to his family and friends.” Tanto Metro and Mr. G also shared messages of R.I.P., accompanied by the praying hands emoji.
In recent years, Danny English released an EP featuring tracks like Cut Dem Off, collaborating with his sons Static and Bum Bam. He was also the father to rising star Jayblem, who gained recognition with his 2021 single Account.
Danny English was best known for the 2002 hit Party Time with Egg Nog on the Diwali rhythm.
Born Donald Cox, Danny English has performed at popular shows such as Sumfest, Sting, Champion In Action, Camp Fire, and Irie Jamboree. He also toured the world, hitting stages in London, Birmingham, Japan, Canada, and the Caribbean.
He is survived by 23 children, 15 boys and eight girls.
Danny English was 54.
