Dancehall artiste Munga Honorable who appeared before the Home Circuit Court today in relation to a murder charge will next appear before the Court on June 24, 2025, after a trial date was unable to be set.
Justice Leighton Pusey today extended his bail to June 24.
Munga, whose given name is Damian Rhoden, is charged along with co-accused Sherdian Gordon with the 2017 murder of Cleveland Smith.
But when he appeared before the Court today a trial date was unable to be set, because of several issues including the unavailability of witnesses on both sides, due to the passage of time.
Speaking with IRIE FM today, lawyer for Rhoden, Christopher Townsend also indicated that he had complained that a phone which the police took from Rhoden for testing to show his location at the time of the incident is no longer working and therefore the CyberForensic and Communication Division (CFCD) of the Jamaica Constabulary Force cannot retrieve the data. The Judge, Townsend indicated, ruled in favour of Rhoden’s legal team’s request for their experts to examine the phone in the presence of CFCD personnel.
It is alleged that the deceased, Smith was fatally shot on Molynes Road, Kingston 20 in May, 2017, after an altercation with some men. Munga and his co-accused have denied any involvement in the murder.
