Dalton Myers appointed Director, High Performance Athletics at University of Toronto

The University of Toronto has appointed Jamaican sport administrator Dalton Myers as its new Director, interuniversity and High Performance Athletics effective September 2, 2025.

Myers, the former President of the Jamaica Intercollegiate Sports Association (INTERCOL), brings with him over a decade of senior leadership experience in university and elite sport management. His impressive résumé includes roles at Queen’s University, Carleton University, and the University of the West Indies (UWI), where he served as Director of Sports at the Mona Campus.

A native of Clarendon, Jamaica, and a proud alumnus of Clarendon College and Glenmuir High School, Myers is known for building inclusive, high-impact environments that empower student-athletes, coaches, and staff. His contributions extend beyond campus borders, with involvement in international sport development through organizations such as the Jamaica Olympic Association, Pan Am Sports, Commonwealth Games, and World Para Junior Athletics.

In his new role, Myers will oversee the University of Toronto’s Varsity Blues program, its high performance sport academies, Blue and White teams, and a range of student-athlete support initiatives. He will also lead efforts in coaching development, equity-driven programming, and comprehensive student-athlete support.

Currently, Myers serves on the Board of the Canadian Centre for Mental Health and Sport and as Chair of the Ontario University Athletics Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion Committee, further reflecting his commitment to inclusive leadership and athlete well-being.

Expressing his gratitude and excitement, Myers stated:

“I’m really truly humbled and honored to be given this opportunity to help build athletics at the University of Toronto. I can think from early days in Alley, Clarendon to now, I’ve always valued the role sport plays in the community, so this is special for me.

This is tremendous not only for me but certainly for my family and just my entire community, so I’m really committed to help shape sports at the university. I’m excited to work with the talented athletes, staff, alumni, and coaches on this journey.”

He also offered a heartfelt thanks to those who played a key role in his appointment:

“So I want to especially thank the University of Toronto, the Faculty of Kinesiology and Physical Education, Ashley Sterling the Assistant Dean, and the entire hiring committee for putting their trust in me. I hope to continue making everyone proud.”

Myers holds a Master of Sports Administration from Ohio University, a Master of Philosophy in Cultural Studies, and a Bachelor of Science in Sport Science and International Relations from the University of the West Indies where he resided on Irvine Hall.
