Legendary Jamaican sprinter Usain Bolt has lost his Dad.

Wellesley Bolt passed away Monday March 31 after ailing for some time – He was 68 years old

The senior Bolt was a standout supporter of his son as he blazed the track and field world with sensational performances.

This included his meteoric rise to stardom following his sensational Olympic and world record performance at the Beijing Olympics in 2008.

A devoted father, Wellesley was often seen alongside his wife, Jennifer, in the stands as they cheered on their son during his rise to global stardom.

He played a vital role in Usain’s early life and was a constant source of encouragement.

The Bolt family hails from Sherwood Content in Trelawny, where Wellesley operated a grocery shop until 2017, and was an active member of the community.

In addition to Usain, Wellesley had two other children, Sherine and Sadiki.
