Cyber security expert urges consumers to exercise caution when shopping online for Christmas

As the country gets into one of the busiest shopping seasons of the year, a cyber security expert is urging consumers to exercise caution and to look out for offers that seem too good to be true, when shopping online this Christmas.

This, against the background of heightened cyber security and other threats in the marketplace.

Cyber Security Analyst O’dail Stewart notes that while shopping online especially, people should be very cautious about the information that they share.

Mr Stewart notes that credit cards usually offer more protection for the consumer when shopping online.

He adds that using a secure network while shopping online is essential to keep your personal information safe.

This means, avoiding public Wi-Fi, as they are susceptible to ‘man-in-the-middle attacks’.
