CXC to use modified approach to determine grades for C-SEC Mathematics exam, following paper leak in Jamaica
The Caribbean Examinations Council (CXC) will be using a modified approach to determine grades for students who sat the Caribbean Secondary Education Certificate (C-SEC) Mathematics examinations this year.
This follows a leak of Paper 2 of the exam ahead of its administration on Wednesday (May 17).
Speaking at a press conference today (May 19), Registrar and Chief Executive Officer of CXC, Dr Wayne Wesley said an investigation confirmed that Jamaica is the country where the leak took place.
He explained that the leak was not confined to Jamaica, despite originating there.
Dr Wesley noted that the breach has led to concern and anxiety among students about how they will be impacted.
He assured that a new method will be used to determine grades.
He assured candidates that the security of the examinations is paramount and their well-being continues to be at the centre of the organization’s decisions and processes.
