Culture and Entertainment Ministry takes steps to address night noise issue

Culture and Entertainment Minister Olivia Grange has shared that steps have been taken to address the issue of night noise and insufficiency of entertainment zones in Jamaica, as such, some heritage sites are being repurposed for use as suitable entertainment venues.

The minister also revealed plans for the inclusion of a sound stage for film and television at JamWorld, government’s intention to fence the property housing the complex and interim plans to monetize the use that is now being made of the facility.

Meanwhile Minister Grange said, the Government of Jamaica will use the opportunity of Paris 2024 to engage in what she refers to as cultural diplomacy.

She noted that Jamaica will partner with the city of Nanterre to stage a series of events which includes Jamaica Day on Friday August 9 which she says will culminate with a mega Reggae Night concert featuring performances from Grammy winner, Julian Marley, his nephew Skip Marley and Reggae veteran Luciano. Then on August 11, the final day of Paris 2024, Jamaica will collaborate with the CRC church in Paris to stage Jamaica Praise which will feature renowned gospel artiste, Kevin Downswell in concert.

Minister Grange made the revelations during a post cabinet press briefing on Tuesday, June 25,2024.
