Crab vendors at Heroes Circle trained and certified as small food operators, ahead of reopening
Crab vendors at the National Heroes Circle in Kingston have been trained and are now certified as small food operators, ahead of the popular food spot’s expected reopening on November 23.
The popular food spot was ordered closed by health officials in October following sanitation breaches by one vendor.
It has since been cleaned and sanitized.
Chief Executive Officer of the Kingston and St. Andrew Municipal Corporation (KSMAC), Robert Hill, said the training and certification were done in partnership with the HEART/NSTA Trust.
It was a five-day programme and the vendors have been properly trained and now certified to operate as small food facility operators.
Mr. Hill informed that the vendors will also receive their food handlers permits from the public health department.
The CEO said that though this initial round of training was specifically for vendors at Heroes Circle, the programme will soon be extended to other vendors in the corporate area.
