CPL Official, Patriots Players Robbed at Gunpoint in Barbados

The Barbados Police Service has confirmed that two players from the St Kitts and Nevis Patriots and a Caribbean Premier League (CPL) official were robbed at gunpoint in the early hours of Tuesday, September 9.

Reports indicate that around 2:50 a.m., the group stopped at a popular food establishment in Fontabelle, St. Michael on their way back to the team hotel when they were approached by an armed man. Police said the victims, who have not been named, were part of a larger group that included several West Indies cricketers.

As the men attempted to run, one individual fell and became involved in a scuffle with the assailant. During the altercation, a chain was forcibly broken from his neck. A firearm believed to belong to the attacker was later recovered at the scene.

Police confirmed that no West Indies cricketers were robbed during the incident. Officers from the Criminal Investigations Department at the Central Police Station are continuing investigations.

The Patriots, who are preparing for their Republic Bank CPL match against the Barbados Royals at Kensington Oval in Bridgetown on September 11, have not issued a statement on the incident. The team is second from bottom on six points having recorded 3 wins and 6 losses in 8 games.
