CPFSA to roll out initiative to boost community child protection efforts after teen’s rape and murder

An initiative to strengthen child protection efforts at the community level is scheduled to be rolled out this year by the Child Protection and Family Services Agency (CPFSA).

The CPFSA says there is a detrimental need for the Child Protection Early Warning System, following the recent rape and murder of 14-year-old Pryce Johnson at her home last Thursday.

Chief Executive Officer of the CPFSA Laurette Adams-Thomas said the initiative is to ensure that no child suffers a similar fate to Pryce.

She is also calling for greater vigilance and support from community members in the fight to protect Jamaica’s children from predators.

A strong call to parents and guardians to ensure that their children are never left in vulnerable situations was also issued.

Mrs. Adams-Thomas then called on those who are circulating videos of the incident to desist.
