CPFSA doubles down on commitment to address child abuse as data show 80% of Jamaican children endure various forms of abuse
The Child Protection and Family Services Agency (CPFSA) has doubled down on its efforts to address child abuse or violence in the country.
This, as Jamaica joined other countries yesterday, in commemorating World Day for the Prevention of Child Abuse.
CPFSA’s newly appointed Chief Executive Officer, Laurette Adams-Thomas laments that according to statistics, 80% of Jamaican children endure various forms of violence.
Mrs Adams-Thomas explains that 65% of that number, experience violence or abuse, in their homes or schools – two institutions that should be safe environments for children.
She was speaking at a special church service at the Emmanuel Baptist Church, in Port Maria, St Mary yesterday.
