CPFSA calls on parents to look out for signs of bullying among children
A call is being made for parents to be more assertive in identifying the signs of bullying in their children, and take the necessary steps to keep them safe.
The Child Protection and Family Services Agency made the call, following Thursday’s viral video which captured the physical assault of a male Hopewell High School student by several of his schoolmates.
In the three-minute and 21-second-long video, the male student was seen being smacked and kicked repeatedly by the group of boys.
Three of the suspects are in police custody and investigations are ongoing to apprehend others.
Chief Executive Officer of the Agency, Laurette Adams-Thomas stressed the importance of parents providing a safe space where children who are being bullied can come to them for help.
This, she said, should be in addition to parents being on the lookout for signs of bullying.
She also noted that parents who suspect, or receive information that their child is bullying others, must take steps to have the situation addressed.
