Court rules South Trelawny MP Marisa Dalrymple-Philibert has a case to answer over omitted assets in her declarations

Embattled Member of Parliament for South Trelawny, Marisa Dalrymple-Philibert, must face trial in relation to charges laid against her following an Integrity Commission report into her assets.

Parish Court Judge Leighton Morris handed down the decision today.

A case management hearing is set for February 25 to ensure that the matter is ready to proceed to trial.

The trial is scheduled to take place on March 31 next year in the Kingston and St. Andrew Parish Court.

The Integrity Commission had determined that Dalrymple-Philibert should be charged in relation to making a false statement in her statutory declaration filings between 2015 and 2021.

This pertains to a Mercedes-Benz motor car, which was omitted from her statutory declarations for six years.

Amid public outrage over the matter, Dalrymple-Philibert resigned as MP and Speaker of the House last year.

She was returned as MP following a by-election in November.
