Court of Appeal calls on relevant authorities to address homeless people issue
The leadership of the Appeal Court has called on the relevant authorities to address serious safety and security risk concerns, relating to homeless and mentally challenged persons.
This in the wake of yet another incident involving a homeless person.
It’s reported that fire was set to a pile of garbage at the back of the court house in Kingston by a homeless person.
The issue was raised yesterday by Justice Paulette Williams, at the opening of the Michaelmas term.
She pointed to another incident in which a security guard was allegedly attacked by a knife wielding mentally challenged person.
She urged court staff and clients to always be on the alert.
