Courier companies to soon get tax break on imported armoured vehicles
Courier companies will soon be able to get armoured vehicles at a reduced cost, as steps are being taken to amend legislation to give them a tax break.
Finance Minister Fayval Williams told the lower house today that the decision to amend the General Consumption Tax act comes in the wake of robberies and other similar attacks on armoured vehicles and automated teller machines, in recent months.
And, Opposition Leader Mark Golding, while understanding the need for the tax break, raised questions about the timing of this amendment.
