Water Minister Matthew Samuda says he expects that an announcement will be made in short order about National Water Commission (NWC) president Mark Barnett’s future at the commission.

Mr. Samuda made the disclosure in response to questions posed at a post-cabinet press briefing on Wednesday morning.

Mr. Barnett was sent on administrative leave, last October.

It followed a damning report from the Integrity Commission (IC) which flagged Barnett and his wife for alleged breaches relating to an apartment complex in St. Andrew.

The IC cited, among other things, irregularities in the approval process for the construction of the complex.

Giving an update on the matter, Mr. Samuda said he expects the NWC board to comment on the matter soon.
