Count down begins for 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup

On the eve of the one year countdown to the FIFA Women’s World Cup in Brazil, Rio de Janeiro’s iconic Christ the Redeemer Statue was illuminated with the FIFA Women’s World Cup 2027 brand and a “one year to go” message.

Street-art murals were also unveiled across all eight host cities – Belo Horizonte, Brasília, Fortaleza, Porto Alegre, Recife, Rio de Janeiro, Salvador and São Paulo. 

A total of 14 countries have already qualified for the 32-team tournament, with the final draw scheduled for later this year.

The remaining berths will be decided through ongoing competitions, with the final draw, scheduled for later this year, determining the group-stage battles.

Jamaica’s Reggae Girls must win their critical upcoming playoff match against costa rica in Texas in november in a winner-takes-all quarter-final in the concacaf women’s championship to secure their spot.

Tthe four quarter-final losers move into a play-in round to fight for two Concacaf spots in the Intercontinental Playoffs in February 2027.
