Councillors continue to lobby for better salaries
Councillors across the island continue to lobby for better salaries.
Several have raised the issue in the past, and more recently, others have joined the call.
Among them is Mayor of Port Maria Richard Creary, who says the current salaries are inadequate.
He says based on the duties and expectations of councillors, their remuneration should be at the level of management.
Meantime, councillor for the West Chester Division, in Portmore, St. Catherine, Renair Benjamin, in noting the importance of better salaries, chastised the association of local government authorities of Jamaica for not doing enough for councillors.
