Councillor for the Bellefield Division in Manchester Mario Mitchell, urges immediate action to address school violence
Councillor for the Bellefield Division in Manchester Mario Mitchell is calling for urgent attention to be placed on tackling violence in schools.
His appeal follows the stabbing death of a female student and the wounding of a male student at the Catholic College of Mandeville in Williamsfield, Manchester yesterday.
Speaking to reporters following the incident, Mr. Mitchell said teachers have been complaining about the surge in violent activities among students.
He is calling on the authorities to assess the issue.
Councillor Mitchell noted that if students need psychological and mental support, it should be rendered.
Meantime, the Catholic College of Mandeville in Williamsfield has been closed today due to Monday’s incident.
The 17-year-old boy accused of the fatal stabbing is to reappear in the Manchester Parish Court on June 4.
