Councillor assures that money has been allocated to fix the Redberry road in Manchester, following protest by residents
Following this morning’s protest by residents of Redberry in Manchester, over poor road conditions, Councillor for the Porus division, Claudia Morant Baker has assured that over $100 million has already been allocated to repair the roadway.
The residents blocked sections of the Redberry road, leaving scores of commuters including students stranded.
People’s National Party (PNP) candidate for South Manchester, Peter Bunting, who was among the protesters, called on the authorities to address the residents’ plight.
But Councillor Morant Baker, while noting that she sympathizes with the residents, said a commitment was made to fix the road following lobbying from herself and Member of Parliament for Manchester Southern Robert Chin.
She explained that former government minister Everald Warmington had indicated that over $100 million had been allocated to repair the road.
