Consumers warned to avoid unauthorized rice, flour, beans and cornmeal after unsafe food products went missing in St. James

Consumers are being warned to avoid purchasing or eating rice, flour, red kidney beans, or cornmeal from unauthorized sources.

The advisory about unfit food products gone missing after Hurricane Melissa was issued by the Ministry of Industry Investment and Commerce today.

The ministry said following inspections after Hurricane Melissa, four seized containers stored in Porto Bello, Montego Bay, St. James for disposal were found missing or damaged.

It said these products had been declared unfit for human consumption.

Persons who see or suspect that these items are being sold, are being urged to contact the ministry’s food storage and prevention of infestation division.
