The Police High Command says a constable has been taken into custody following a targeted, intelligence-driven operation conducted earlier today in Florence Hill, St. Andrew.

It said the officer was arrested after two prohibited firearms were seized during a coordinated raid on a premises.

According to the JCF the operation, which forms part of a wider investigation into illicit firearms trafficking, was triggered by credible intelligence suggesting that the member was involved in the illegal vending of firearms.

It said this arrest represents a significant development in the JCF’s ongoing offensive against the illegal
gun trade.

The JCF said the operations are ongoing and further details will be provided as the investigation progresses.
