Of the 14 leptospirosis related deaths, 6 have been confirmed.

Principal Medical Officer and National Epidemiologist, Dr. Karen Webster Kerr gave the update at a health ministry press conference now underway.

She said all the deceased are males.

She noted that as at yesterday, there were 90 suspected leptospirosis cases.

Dr. Webster Kerr explained that 7 of the suspected cases previously reported were discarded due to negative results.

She said 21 cases have been confirmed, 18 of which are considered post Hurricane Melissa cases.

The National Epidemiologist said the confirmed deaths are deemed post Hurricane Melissa casualties.
