Close relatives of motorists urged to play critical role in dissuading them against poor driving practices

A call is being made for close relatives of motorists to play a critical role in dissuading them against poor driving practices, especially speeding.

The call was made by Vice-Chairman of the National Road Safety Council, Dr. Lucien Jones.

It followed the deaths of three young men in a crash along Marescaux Road in Kingston yesterday morning.

Dead are 33-year-old Andre Wright, 26-year-old Tavaugn Miller and 19-year-old Dante Francis all from Kingston.

Four other occupants of the vehicle were hospitalized.

Dr. Jones stressed that with 48 people being killed on the roadways so far this year, 18 of them this month, all Jamaicans must play a part in keeping the numbers low.

In addition to several road safety strategies, Dr. Jones is appealing to people to impress upon their loved ones the importance of good driving habits.

He reiterated that road deaths cause suffering and affect the country’s growth negatively.
