Claudette Thompson to officially assume duties as new DPP next Monday
Claudette Thompson will officially assume duties as the new Director of Public Prosecutions next Monday October 13.
Thompson takes over the job from former DPP Paula Llewellyn who demitted office last month.
Thompson has acted as DPP on previous occasions.
She first acted in 2019, then served in that capacity again last April when Ms. Llewellyn temporarily stepped aside, while issues relating to her retirement were clarified.
She was called on to act again, since September 22.
Many in the legal fraternity have expressed their confidence in Thompson’s abilities and voiced their support for her to be given the top job, citing her years of experience, wealth of knowledge and leadership skills.
The Office of the Public Service Commission indicated on Tuesday that Thompson has been formally appointed DPP, effective October 13.
