Classes dismissed at Holmwood Technical following fatal shooting of a bus driver on the school’s compound this morning
Classes at the Holmwood Technical High School in Manchester were dismissed this morning following the fatal shooting of a man on the school’s compound.
The deceased, Rohan Gentles, otherwise called ‘Scooga,’ was a driver employed by the school.
Reports indicate that at about 8:40 A.M., students were disembarking from the bus which was parked on the school grounds, when the driver was approached by armed men who opened gunfire at him.
The police were summoned, and upon their arrival, the man was seen lying on the ground suffering from gunshot wounds.
He was pronounced dead upon arrival at the hospital.
Some residents have expressed disappointment over the incident noting that Gentles got along well with everyone.
Meantime, Councillor for the Christiana Division, Oneil Evans, has condemned the murder that occurred on the school grounds.
Errol Newman, the coach of Holmwood Technical’s football teams said the bus driver was preparing to load the vehicle for a football match today when he was shot and killed.
He mentioned that he knew the bus driver personally and had interacted with him several times as he transported students to different matches across the island.
