Clarke says 99% of SLB applicants successful
About 99% of the persons who apply to the student loan bureau, SLB, are successful.
That’s according to Finance Minister, Dr Nigel Clarke, as he lauded the efforts of the SLB, in providing financial assistance to tertiary students, over the years.
Dr. Clarke said it is expected that the number of applicants will increase, due to changes, including the removal of the guarantor requirement for specified individuals.
Dr Clarke added that the government intends to make further adjustments to the SLB process, to include, facilitating online repayment of loans.
He was speaking at the launch of the government’s Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) scholarship programme, on Thursday.
The programme was formed out of a partnership with the Students’ Loan Bureau, and the University of Technology, Jamaica.
