Clarendon SOE worries Party Promoters

Party promoters in Clarendon are optimistic that their events will proceed as schedule despite the announcement of a State of Public Emergency in the parish.

Earlier today, September 13, Prime Minister Andrew Holness announced that on advice from the Jamaica Constabulary Force and the Jamaica Defence Force he asked the Governor General to declare a State of Public Emergency for the entire parish of Clarendon.

According to the Prime Minister, the SOE was sought based on intelligence that has found that the ongoing feud between rival gangs in the parish has led to a surge in organised armed violence.

Speaking with Music News a promoter hosting an event in the parish tomorrow says he will be proceeding with his event as planned. The promoter says he received his permit and will have strong police and security presence to protect his patrons.

Clarendon has seen an increase in criminal activities in recent times. Back in August either persons were shot and killed in the Cherry Tree Lane area of the parish.
