A 31-year-old Clarendon man accused of assaulting police officers has been charged following an incident in Spalding Town Centre on Saturday.

Andrew Wilkinson, a farmer of Bryan’s Land, Spalding has been charged with assault occasioning actual bodily harm and assault at common law.

Reports are that at about 11:30 A.M., lawmen were patrolling the area when they saw Wilkinson, who was wanted by the police.

The lawmen attempted to arrest him, but he resisted.

Police say Wilkinson proceeded to hit one officer in the face, causing bruising and swelling.

It’s alleged that he then pulled a weapon and advanced towards the officers in a threatening manner.

He was shot during the altercation and taken to the hospital, where he was treated and released into police custody.

Wilkinson was arrested and charged.

His court date is being arranged.
