Child-friendly element added to Reggae Sumfest package

Reggae Sumfest has partnered with the Montego Bay Chamber of Commerce to add a new element to the annual festival to celebrate the youths.

Dubbed Community Fest, the event slated to take place on July 18, at Pier 1 Lawn in Montego Bay will feature a fun day for the children with a range of rides, face painting, and games. Plus entertainment by the youths of Montego Bay.

Meanwhile, the momentum is high as Reggae and Dancehall lovers locally and internationally, gear up for the weeklong festival which swings into high gear next week.

In addition to Community Fest, Reggae Sumfest will kick off with the FREE event – Sumfest Street Dance on Monday, July 18, followed by Sumfest All White on Tuesday, July 19, Sumfest Blitz on Wednesday, July 20, Sumfest Global Sound Clash on Thursday, July 21, Festival Night 1 and Festival Night 2 on the 22nd and 23rd of July, respectively at its usual home in Catherine Hall, Montego Bay, St James.

On July 22, music lovers will be treated to live performances from the likes of Spice, Shenseea, Masicka, Alkaline, Aidonia, Ding Dong, Govana, Teejay, Chronic Law, Lalee, 450, Jahshi, Intense, Skeng, I-Waata, Moyann, and Marci Chin.

Meanwhile, Beres Hammond, Koffee, Sizzla, Dexta Daps, Christopher Martin, Yaksta, Shaniel Muir, Nation Boss, and Dyani are among the entertainers slated to perform on July 23.

July 23 will also feature a special Madhouse tribute honouring the works of the world-renowned producer, Dave Kelly, who ruled the 90s era with timeless riddims such as Showtime, Pepperseed, Bug, Bruck Out, Joyride, Action, and countless others.

Dancehall heavyweights Bounty Killer, Beenie Man, Cham, Wayne Wonder, Frisco Kid, Terror Fabulous, and Spragga Benz have been recruited for the Dave Kelly Madhouse tribute.

This year marks the first live staging of Reggae Sumfest after it was halted due to the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic.
