Chief Justice disappointed with delay in implementing an integrated electronic case management system in the island’s courts
Chief Justice Bryan Sykes has expressed disappointment over the delay in the implementation of an integrated electronic case management system, in the island’s courts.
Speaking at this morning’s swearing-in ceremony for judges for the Michaelmas Term, Justice Sykes said the system is key to the judiciary achieving its strategic objectives.
He questioned why the system’s implementation has not moved forward even after extensive discussions and consultations.
Justice Sykes said it is vital that the system is implemented, as it will not only improve efficiency in the courts, but also affect how the country is viewed by investors.
Last year, Justice Sykes said the proposed integrated electronic case management framework could cost the government between 3 and 5 million U.S. dollars to implement.
The Chief Justice had also indicated that the proposal was to go before Cabinet for approval.
