Chief Justice advocates for construction of more family courts
Chief Justice Bryan Sykes is advocating for more family courts to be built across the island.
He commented on the issue at the official opening of the St. Ann family court, on Wednesday.
Justice Sykes elaborated on the need to separate the Family Court from other courts, to foster a different approach in dealing with family related issues.
He said the aim of the family court is to provide therapeutic justice.
This system addresses the offender’s behaviour and incorporates social services.
The Chief Justice highlighted the importance of establishing family courts.
