Chief Judge Chester Crooks urges correctional officers not to accept bribes
Chief Judge of the Parish Courts Chester Crooks has urged the newly minted Department of Correctional Services, (DCS) officers not to betray the trust placed in them by accepting bribes or engaging in other illegal activities.
Delivering the main address for the passing out parade for the 87th intake of DCS officers today, Justice Crooks noted that one of his most distressing duties is to adjudicate cases involving officers who are on the wrong side of the law.
He referenced a story in which a correctional officer was offered a bribe by a prisoner and refused.
He then urged the new officers to follow that officer’s example and choose to uphold justice.
