Social Security Minister, Pearnel Charles Jr. says the distribution of cash grants to citizens whose homes were damaged by Hurricane Beryl is being done in a timely manner.

The cash grants are being distributed through the Ministry’s “Rebuild Jamaica” initiative which was launched on August 5.

Prime Minister Andrew Holness had expressed hope that all cheques would be distributed by the end of this month.

In providing an update to IRIE FM News last evening, Mr. Charles Jr said the relief efforts are on track.

He said over 150 cash grants were handed over to citizens in St. Elizabeth and Westmoreland yesterday.

Mr. Charles Jr added that more grants will be distributed next week, as the Government remains committed to helping citizens rebuild.
