Labour Minister Pearnel Charles Jnr, says the fall in the unemployment rate will result in more stability in the economy, and Jamaica becoming more globally competitive.
The Statistical Institute of Jamaica on Friday, released the latest labour force survey findings, revealing that Jamaica’s unemployment rate, stands at a record 3.6 percent, as at July.
This is lower than the 4.2 percent recorded in April.
Statin says, female unemployment was higher at 4 per cent, compared to males, which stood at 3.2 per cent.
The labour force comprised over one point 46 million people, with more males – 53 percent- employed.
Mr Charles Jnr says the fall in the unemployment rate, augurs well for the country.
The labour minister laments that many job seekers are not prepared to do what is necessary to secure jobs.
