Chang says court process has prevented more convictions for gun crimes
National Security Minister Dr Horace Chang has expressed concern that the court process has prevented some persons, who are charged under the new Firearms Act, from being convicted.
Speaking with journalists on Tuesday, Dr Chang said while he is not blaming the courts, the government is trying it’s best to hold persons accountable.
He said despite this challenge, a number of convictions have been handed down.
He sought to assure citizens that they will soon see greater impact of the new Firearms Act, on crime and violence in the country.
He said the new law will gradually drive fear into those who engage in gun related crimes.
