Cedella Marley has come to the defence of three-year-old soccer player Nevada Pierre after a video showing police asking the youngster and his family to leave a park in Winter Park, Florida, sparked widespread reactions on social media.

The incident reportedly occurred during an i9 Sports youth soccer game, with claims circulating online that the family was asked to leave after other children struggled to take the ball from Nevada.

Marley, the daughter of Reggae legend Bob Marley, weighed in on the situation with a message highlighting the importance of allowing children to express themselves and develop their talents through sports.

“Football is more than a game. It is freedom, expression, community and opportunity,” she wrote in a post shared on Instagram.

She also expressed concern about discouraging a young child who is displaying a natural passion for the sport.

“To see a child so young, playing with such joy, passion and natural talent should be something we celebrate, not discourage,” Cedella Marley stated.

She encouraged Nevada to remain confident in his abilities, reminding him that every child deserves the freedom to play, dream and discover their gifts without limitations.

Marley ended her message by urging the young player to keep pursuing his passion and sharing his talent with the world, assuring him of her support.
