Entertainer Cecile is standing in solidarity with the Jamaican field athletes who have made headlines for switching allegiance to represent Turkey.

Commenting under a post featuring 2024 Paris Olympics gold medallist Roje Stona, Cecile expressed understanding and support, writing:

“Congrats my G! Nah cuss you caz we understand sufferation while trying to be patriotic! You can come home when you done secure your future! We have lots of athletes that can get a chance while you take a lil break! So it guh.”

The move has sparked mixed reactions among Jamaicans after reports surfaced that Roje Stona, Olympic shot put bronze medallist Rajindra Campbell, and World Under-20 triple jump record holder Jaydon Hibbert have agreed to compete for Turkey.

The athletes are reportedly receiving major financial incentives, including a US$500,000 signing bonus, monthly stipends, and six-figure payouts for podium finishes at major meets.

In response, the Jamaica Athletics Administrative Association (JAAA) has called on World Athletics to intervene to prevent talent drain to cash-rich nations.
