The National Works Agency and the Jamaica Civil Service Association are to meet next Tuesday May 26 to discuss a number of concerns raised by workers. As a result , the JCSA is urging members to return to work today pending discussions with management and the finance ministry.

Beneficiaries of container homes from government will be given grants to pay for construction of the bases for the units. Minister with responsibility for Land Titling and Settlements Robert Montague gave the update while viewing the units that recently arrived in island.

The Ministry says of the students assessed by medical personnel, 23 have been discharged, while three students have been admitted for further care and observation. The remaining students are receiving medical attention, including fluids, and are awaiting further review by medical staff.

The Meteorological Service says it's actively monitoring emerging climate patterns indicating the expected development of an El Niño phenomenon, which could influence rainfall and temperature conditions across the island in the coming months. While Jamaica experienced above-average rainfall across much of the traditional dry season between January and April, recent observations have shown a shift toward warmer and drier conditions in several areas of the country.
